John

Keswick might be an option - you could do Helvellyn from the west (Thirlmere) side which is easy to get to from Keswick, and do Scafell Pike from Seathwaite, which is also not too far from Keswick.

There's plenty of accomodation in Keswick and lots of pubs for a pint. There's also a nice pub in Rosthwaite if you choose to do Scafell Pike from that side.

Cheers, JP

Hello All,

i want to take a hill walking group from N Ireland to the lake district. we We want to walk Hellvellyn and Scafell Pike in October. Has anyone any tips about where 8-10 of us could stay. we want to go for a real pint of English ale in the evenings and a central location would probably suit.

thanks

Did Scafell Pikes last week - a great fell but suffers from overcrowding at the top! I'll try a lesser well-known fell next time like Black Combe
